AstaNorth by Pond – Canadian Astaxanthin
We operate our own algae facilities in Canada, equipped with state-of-the-art technology developed by our sister company Pond Technologies.
Clean – Our fully enclosed, biosecure system ensures our Astaxanthin is consistently made to the highest quality standard.
Green – We develop and use the latest technology to minimize environmental impacts. Our facility uses 100% renewable electricity and is working towards zero waste.
Made in Canada – Our astaxanthin is derived from a strong, local strain of H. pluvialis which has evolved to withstand tough northern climates.
Wet Extraction – Our gentle, all-natural extraction method preserves the oil as the algae are never dehydrated and never exposed to harsh chemicals or excessive heat. This avoids denaturing common in other brands and results in a pleasant, non-fishy odour and aftertaste.
Full Spectrum – By extracting astaxanthin from whole algae, we harvest a “full-spectrum” algae oil and not just an isolate that cuts out other nutrients present in the algae cell.
Natural preservative for CBD oil – It inhibits lipid peroxidation, thus extending shelf life and adding its own health benefits to the blend.

ASTAXANTHIN - NATURE’S FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
The same substance that gives salmon and krill oil its pink colour also happens to be one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and ally in overall health.
Astaxanthin is a unique red carotenoid produced in the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. When nature puts algae in stressful conditions, it shields itself with the nutrient-rich algae oil astaxanthin, a versatile compound with a unique range of health benefits:
Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation are often the underlying causes of joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Astaxanthin anti-inflammatory properties tackle the root of the problem, offering sustained joint relief.
Astaxanthin has been shown to reduce this oxidation in the eye, slows degeneration and often improves vision, blurriness and eye soreness.
Exposure to UV radiation and age lead to the formation of wrinkles. Astaxanthin works to repair damaged skin cells but reducing inflammation and boosting collagen production, improving skin moisture & elasticity.
Astaxanthin has been shown to reduce this inflammatory damage, aiding cognition and possibly preventing neuro-conditions.
Astaxanthin has been shown to help lower elevated levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) and blood pressure.
A SECRET SAUCE FOR ATHLETES
The body tends to store some toxins in its fat reserves which can get released when switching over to the keto diet, contributing to the “ketoflu”. Anecdotal reports hint that as a strong antioxidant, astaxanthin may help balance out symptoms of the keto flu.
REPAIR & RECOVER
A series of studies with soccer players showed reduced muscle damage and inflammation as a result of reduced free radical production in the mitochondria.
POWER & ENDURANCE
A study with elite-level cyclists found increased power output and improved time trialswhen compared to a control group without astaxanthin.
EYE PROTECTION FROM UV & BLUE LIGHT
KING OF CAROTENOIDS
As nature’s most powerful carotenoids, Astaxanthin protects algae from harsh UV light and allow them to survive on land for weeks and months on end. In humans, astaxanthin crosses the blood-retinal barrier and directly benefits eye health.
THE PROBLEM WITH BLUE LIGHT
Our eyes lack the ability to effectively block blue light from being absorbed in the retina. Never in human history did we expose our eyes to this much blue light, so the American Optometric Association states that 70% of people who work at a computer will experience some degree of eye dysfunction.
ASTAXANTHIN REDUCES EYE FATIGUE
Studies showed that astaxanthin alleviated symptoms of eye fatigue, boosts the eye’s
ability to focus and refocus and reduces screen-mediated discomfort. Astaxanthin scavenges free radicals in the retina and the ciliary muscle, and increases blood and nutrient availability, and lowers inflammation caused by blue light
THE NEXT BIG THING IN SKIN CARE
VEGAN COLLAGEN BUILDER
UV radiation, age, diet, and other stressors trigger oxidation in skin cells, which accelerate visible aging. Astaxanthin counters this oxidation and repairs damaged skin cells. It also boosts the body’s production of collagen. Studies show cosmetic benefits via reduced fine lines and improved skin moisture & elasticity.
SHIFT TOWARDS CLEAN LABEL COSMETICS
2019 was the year of collagen. And with that, the advent of nutritional supplements as the new frontier in the beauty and skincare categories. Innovative brands are launching collagen-infused macha or tasty astaxanthin gummies. Consumers are forcing mainstream skincare brands to reformulate their topical products using natural ingredients, while becoming more and more aware that beauty starts from within.
A POWERFUL ALLY AGAINST JOINT PAIN
PAINKILLERS DON’T TACKLE THE ROOT CAUSE OF JOINT PAIN
Joint pain from sports, arthritis, or other age-related degenerative conditions are realities of life and are generally caused by oxidative stress resulting in inflammation. The problem is that most conventional treatments focus on anti-inflammatories to help relieve pain, but don’t deal with the underlying problem – free radicals that cause the initial oxidative
ASTAXANTHIN ADDRESSES UNDERLYING ISSUES
Astaxanthin reduces various inflammatory responses known to cause pain and inflammation in joints. Astaxanthin tackles the root of the problem. Sustained joint relief is one of the most common reports from astaxanthin users, especially those with rheumatoid arthritis.
